I am Annett Röhrig, the founder of sayhey.
With sayhey I have fulfilled a childhood dream, for when I was still at school I said to my family: I would like to have my own language school one day. I also knew exactly what it should look like.
Various stages in my life have finally led to the realization of my dream: An exchange year in Uruguay while still at school was the first big experience that had a big impact on me and opened my eyes to the wider world. This was followed by a degree in translation for Spanish and Russian, an Erasmus year in Spain, and further studies to become a teacher of German as a foreign language, as well as the start of my teaching career. I quickly realized that I also wanted to bring the wide world back home to me and the best way to do that was to teach German and bring students from different countries together in my classes. Fantastic!
But the urge to go abroad again didn’t disappear. That’s why I decided to work for 6 years as a DAAD Lecturer in Samarkand, Uzbekistan (Central Asia). It was one of the best decisions of my life! I was able to immerse myself deeply in a completely different culture and at the same time learn so much in the context of international relations … a truly rear and unique experience! Back in Germany, I spent another year and a half as a lecturer at the University of Mainz training German language teachers, attended various training courses for founders, and then the time had finally come: sayhey could take off!
Today, all my experience, my enthusiasm for languages, cultures and traveling contribute to making the school a place where the world comes together, where we overcome borders together, and where we have fun together.
I am looking forward to meeting you!
